The Spot 153 Hey Girl Sketch

Good Morning and happy Tuesday! Hope you are all doing well! I can't believe the beautiful weather we are having! I will take sunny and 70 ANY day. All good things must come to an end though and it looks like March is going to come in like a lion over the weekend. Some forecasts and models are even showing 31" of snow!!!! I am good with it as long as it isn't windy or dramatic! We should be able to sled one more time and the kids will be on break officially on Friday!
This week The Spot has a funny little sketch that I took kind of loosely. I managed to ink up my Hey Girlfriend for my first time... let me show you what I have created!

The card started with a cute girl in the dress! I colored her with Stampin' Blends. For her dress I used the Pool Party and Rococo Rose Combo Packs, her hair is Cinnamon Cider Combo Pack and I used a bit of Ivory for her skin. After she was fussy cut, I added some of our Foam Adhesive Strips and set her aside. I created the background with a large oval die cut negative. Using a Blending Brushing I created the oval Pool Party back ground. I then stamped the hearts with Rococo Rose ink. It still needed a bit of sparkle so I added a bit of Pool Party Ink to my Frost White Shimmer Paint with some rubbing alcohol to create a shimmer mist in a Stampin' Spritzer! The sentiment is also in Rococo Rose and accented with a bit Rococo Rose DSP as a banner. To finish this up I added the girl over the oval background and added a few Basic Rhinestones. The card is nicely matted onto a layer of Rococo Rose and on a perfect Pool Party base!

The Spot 151 Slimline Magnolias

Good Morning! I hope you are all doing well. I am refereeing Wesley and Taryn this morning! It is crazy how those two continue to argue and bicker. Hopefully one day Wesley realizes that his job is to protect her and not pick on her! I had a really fun weekend doing a virtual stamping retreat with a group of other Stampin' Up! Demonstrators! There were new friendships made and lots of laughs! It was good for the soul!

This week The Spot Design Team has a fun challenge for you! We are creating Slim Line cards. Craft room confession, this was my first time! I chose to play with products from our Annual Catalog to make todays design! Let me show you what I have created!

My card started with my Early Espresso Ink Pad and Good Morning Magnolia stamp set. I have stamped the large bloom 3 separate times using Early Espresso ink and my Stampin' Blends to color. The leaves used Light Mossy Meadow, Dark Soft Seafoam and Light Soft Seafoam. The Bloom used Ivory, Dark Petal Pink and Light Petal Pink. Once I had all of them colored, I used a blending brush to add a bit of a distressed look with my Soft Suede ink. This is nicely matted onto a Crumb Cake piece of card stock. The oh so delicious Striped Petal Pink Ribbon was a gorgeous addition over the strip of wood DSP from the In Good Taste DSP. A Square Vellum Doily was the perfect touch under the stitched die cut label from the Wild Rose Dies. A few of the Elegant Faceted Dots added a nice finishing touch!

I can't wait for you to see what the rest of my friends have made with this fun and trendy challenge!
Hope your day is amazing!

The Spot 148 Color Challenge

Good Morning!! It is your typical Tuesday morning here! I hope you all aren't buried by snow! Ours has sadly melted! We now have an amazing mud bog going down to the pigs and the barn!

This morning we creating with a colors on The Spot! There is nothing I love more than the combination of Petal Pink and Soft Seafoam! Now we are throwing the Night of Navy in for this great challenge! I chose to use the Tasteful Touches suite for this fun card.

Okay first thing is first, I KNOW MY LABEL IS CROOKED! ALL of my kids were home yesterday and it wasn't until I took pictures that I realized that it was crooked...

The card started with the piece of DSP from the In Good Taste DSP. This such a versatile pack of paper! I distressed the edges with older pair of Paper Snips. The back side of this piece has a wood pattern. I used it to create a band of across the front of the card and also distressed the edges. I chose to stamp the greenery like stamp from the Tasteful Touches using Soft Seafoam. The stamped flower is in Petal Pink and I went back in with a Blender Pen to color it a bit before fussy cutting. The flower is accented with a bit of the Fine Art Ribbon. My mat is actually Soft Seafoam (SHOCKER!) I actually used our Blending Brushes with Night of Navy ink on it. A bit of heat embossing in the top right corner was the perfect touch for my not so perfect card!

Now it is YOUR turn to play with these colors! I can't wait to see what you create (maybe yours will be less crooked than mine!)

Have an amazing Tuesday!

The Spot 147 Get Your Heart On Challenge

Happy Tuesday!!! It is a cold son of gun today! We have a bit of snow and it is -5 outside! I tried my hand at a Cottage Pie (its a shepherds pie made with beef), last night for dinner. No one complained except for Taryn... she is high maintenance lately!

Today I am creating for the The Spot design team, we are creating cards with the theme "Get Your Heart On", I love a good play on words but we all know I am not a fan of hearts! To be honest, this card came together so easy and I can't wait to share it with you!

If you have looked over the Sweet Valentine Card kit, DONT! This kit is so easy for our kids to put together but we all know that I can't play by the rules! To start this card I decided to use the Tailored Tag Punch and punch some pieces out of the card bases from the kit. These are all adhered using the Multipurpose Liquid Glue on to a layer of Calypso Coral card stock. It is accented with a bit of the Blushing Bride Metallic Ribbon. The sentiment from the Valentine Keepsakes stamp set is heat embossed with White Stampin' Emboss Powder on the top right and accented with a few Wonderful Gems. I used the my Blending Brush with Melon Mambo on a heart punched with Heart Punch Pack. I then heat embossed a gold bow from the Valentine Keepsakes stamp set. Then I layered it over a Pool Party heart punched with scalloped heart from the Heart Punch Pack, it is layered over the ribbon with Stampin' Dimensionals! This card was so easy and fun to put together!

I can't wait to see how YOU get your Heart on this week!
Have a great Tuesday!

The Spot 144 Flowering Cactus

Happy Tuesday!!!! The kids go back to school today and I am so excited that today that they will ALL be on the same campus (for the most part). It always surprised me 8 years ago that the school here in our town of 2500 was not a Pre K-12 campus, however it had Pre K-4 and then 9-12 on the opposite wing. Now all of the kids will be on one campus! Even with our current COVID climate I think that it should go off without a hitch.  So I will be cleaning, purging and assembling swaps today without having to referee fights and arguments between Wesley and Taryn!
This week The Spot Creative Challenge team has an easy or for some of you maybe not so easy challenge. Make something you love!! No rules, your choice! I chose to ink up one of my new favorites from the Spring Catalog which is LIVE today, Flowering Cactus Medley!

The Flowering Cactus Medley has beautiful colors of Calypso Coral, Highland Heather, Mint Macaron, Mossy Meadow and Pear Pizzazz. It comes with the Flowering Cactus Stamp Set and coordinating dies, Designer Series Paper, Linen Thread, Calypso Coral Linen Thread and felt flowers in Calypso Coral and Highland Heather. I obviously chose to take a bit of a softer approach with Petal Pink. It is crazy how ONE color can change the look of the WHOLE suite. I stamped the large cactus in Mint Macaron and the smaller one in Pear Pizzazz. I also die cut one in Pear Pizzazz then used our new Blending Brushes to ink them up with our Mossy Meadow ink. These are layered over a piece of Petal Pink that has the cool cactus like pattern die cut(ish) onto it with the Linen Thread from the kit. The flowers on the cactus are stamped in Petal and die cut with the coordinating die. Yup, that is right! You get to cut two with one pass of your die cutting machine! A strip on the top left of the coordinating DSP was the perfect with my Gray Granite stamped sentiment!

I can't wait to see what you create without the rules! Have an amazing Tuesday!
