TGIF Challenges 177 Rooted in Nature Sketch

Friday! I love you but at the same time I don't! Friday is my day for 7/8th Grade lunch duty and it is definitely not for the faint of heart! I am glad tomorrow is Saturday and that we can all sleep in!!!

TGIF Challenges is back this week with a fun sketch that I kind of twisted... I mean what would be a sketch without some self interpretation?! Let me show you my card!

This card starts with a Blackberry Bliss card base and is matted with Mint Macaron. The Natures Poem DSP made this card come together with ease. With some fun fussy cutting the wood slab and sentiment really brought this card to life. I really can't get enough the Mint Macaron, Blackberry Bliss, and Grapefruit Grove color combination! It is accented with Soft Suede and the Copper Leaf Embellishments.

Stamp Ink Paper 152 Aqua Lime and Purple Color Challenge

Welcome to this weeks Stamp Ink Paper! I hope you all had an amazing 3 day weekend! We capped ours off with severe weather and the threat of tornadoes. We opted to go in to town and grill at a friends just before the sky opened up for the evening!

This week we are playing with some fun summer colors. I think that Purple, Aqua and Lime scream summer! I wasn't sure how or what I was going to make with these colors, I mean I have been in a bit of purple craze! Enough about that, let me show you what I have made!

My card started with a nice base of Coastal Cabana. I matted my stamped layer with one of the new colors coming out on Friday, Highland Heather! I used the Marble Background Stamp with Coastal Cabana ink. I absolutely LOVE the Shimmery White Embossing Paste and I am so happy it is sticking around. I have used it with the clouds from the Pattern Party Decorative Mask set. My Lift Me Up stamp set doesn't get the love it should and I felt it was perfect for this color challenge. I have stamped the bigger balloon in the NEW Granny Apple Green, and the smaller ones in Highland Heather. The clouds I went ahead and stamped in Coastal Cabana. I adhered these elements using Glue Dots and Stampin' Dimensionals. The sentiment is from the Rooted in Nature stamp set, it was created using the White Stampin' Emboss Powder and my Heat Tool. I used my snips to cut them out and Foam Strips to adhere to my card! A nice Whisper White Bakers Twine bow and a few sequins to finish this card off!

TGIF 161 Thinking of You Reflection Challenge

TGIF is right!!! Not sure that it even matters though with the kids OFFCIALLY on summer break as of Wednesday! I must confess yesterday was a bit of a struggle for us all to find the Summer Normal but I think that today will be a drastic improvement.

One of my favorite things about being on the TGIF Design Team is that it continually pushes me outside of my creative comfort zone. With that being said, new techniques SCARE me! This weeks challenge is a Reflection Technique and I was petrified! I may have scrapped a card or four, then I finally nailed it. Let me show you...

So I was not kidding when I scrapped a few cards before getting this right... This was my favorite! I started by using my sponge daubers to create my sunset like background. The colors I used in order are Berry Burst, Poppy Parade, Mango Melody, Pear Pizzazz and Old Olive. Once I had achieved my desired back ground, I simply stamped one of the many trees from the Rooted in Nature stamp set using Stazon Jet Black ink. Now a word of caution, when you are ready to make your reflection, you will not be able to use Stazon, so use Memento if your reflection is going to be black. My gold Heat Embossed sentiment is also from Rooted In Nature and is on a nice Berry Burst stitched circle from the Stitched Shapes Framelits. It is nicely layered onto a Gold Foil circle from the Layering Circles Framelits. A simple double bow of Linen Thread was all this card needed for embellishments!
