TGIF 100 Designer Spotlight Mercedes Weber

Friday! Friday! Friday is my favorite day, YAY! We are celebrating 60 MPH gusts out here on the plains! They had initially talked about getting our first severe storms of the year last night but that apparently blew right past us and went into Nebraska! The snow has so far skipped us but we are getting rain, and we so NEED it!

TGIF Challenges is celebrating #100!! We are on our 100th challenge and what better that to celebrate our creator, Mercedes Weber!

Being new to the team I really wasn't sure where to go with the card for this particular challenge. Mercedes really has no particular trademark style because anything that she creates is amazing. In doing some research I decided that I wanted something soft yet simple.

The card started with a Soft Sky Butterfly adorned with Basic Pearls that I colored with a gold sharpie marker. My cute little gold dots were created using the Playful Background set and then heat embossed using Versamark, Gold Stampin' Emboss Powder and Heat Tool. Once I did this to the Very Vanilla tag I decided I should add a bit of it onto the Falling In Love DSP! The Tag has a nice piece of the Gold Satin Ribbon with a Metallic Gold Thread bow. You will also notice the thread behind the Butterfly. I chose "Thank You" from the Thoughtful Banner set because I really can't thank Mercedes enough for giving me this opportunity to be on this design team! It too is heat embossed in gold on a accent piece of Sahara Sand. I made this cuter little banner using the Classic Label Punch!

Thank you so much for stopping in! Until next time

Stamp Ink Paper 91 It's My Birthday Challenge

Well, today is the day! My birthday! To be honest turning 38 wasn't any big deal. I cried when I turned 25 because I was half way to 50, so today should be a piece of cake!

So in honor of my birthday Stamp Ink Paper has a fun challenge for you! Make me (okay it doesn't have to be for me) a birthday card!

I know that a lot of you are going to look at this and say "Where did she get that DSP" well, some times we have to be resourceful and creative! This is actually a Project Life card from Hello Lovely kit in the Annual Catalog! I matted onto some Pear Pizzazz card stock with a Sahara Sand Base. My cute little "Tag" was made using the Lots of Labels Framelits. I simply cut the bottom off and rounded my corners. My gold sequins are from stash I have created out of the many embellishment kits of the past! A nice Very Vanilla Doily, Metallic Gold Thread and a little bit of Lace to finish this lovely card off!

Thank you so much for stopping in! I can't wait to see ALL the birthday cards you all come up with!

TGIF Challenges 99 Baby! Oh Baby!

Friday! How I have been waiting for you! I am ready to put this week behind me. 3 weeks from tomorrow this girl will be at OnStage San Diego among all of my Stampin' Up! Demonstrator friends whoopin up over a sneak peek of the upcoming annual catalog! Can you believe that it is already that time of year?? This will be my first one EVER. I am sure the lovely Jeanna will show me the ropes. It is so exciting to have it in my hometown though!

This week the TGIF Challenges has a fun baby themed challenge! It seems like lately I have friends who are having one last one. I am not going to lie, I miss when the kids were little. However since Troy is 12 years my senior I am pretty sure that we are done. Although I said that after Joshua and that is how I ended up with Taryn!

Well look at that! Andrea did punch art... well not punch art, it is more like die and punch art. With a shaker element so that it looks like a rattle! Adorable right? Sue Plote and I discussed this and it really came together easily! A Little Foxy DSP was perfect for this gender neutral baby card! My card has a base of Smoky Slate with a coordinating matte of Pool Party! I used the Layering Circles dies to create my rattle. I was stumped when I needed to create a proportionate handle but the Classic Label was just the size and was heat embossed in Clear Stampin' Emboss powder to give it some depth. The 1/2 Circle Punch at the bottom and paper bow from the Cupcakes & Carousels Embellishment kit were just the right touch! The Suite Sayings set has this adorable sentiment that I stamped onto the Whisper White Banner with Calypso Coral ink.

Thank You so much for stopping in! I can't wait to see what you make for that special bundle of joy!

Paper Craft Crew 235 Sketch Challenge

Welcome to hump day! The kids are on spring break and it has been a tough one for many in our county. On Monday a 4-H Leader and 3 teenage girls were in a major car accident. One of the girls did not survive. So if you looked at my blog yesterday and wondered why it was one with few words... That is why. My heart is so heavy. My thoughts and prayers go out to the young girls family and all of the kids that this is effecting. My only thought when a tragedy like this strikes is that we as parents never plan on out living our own kids. Our time here is not guaranteed. I am not sure that our teenagers will be able to comprehend that or know how to come to terms with this. Prayers for the other 3 in the vehicle. Two remain the hospital with many injuries and surgeries in the future.

Now to lighten the mood. Today I am designing for the Paper Craft Crew Design Team and you will see that I didn't take this sketch to literally!

My fun card started with my water colored boots from Country Livin. I used our amazing Water Color Pencils to color up these cuties and I think I finally got the hang of them. I then added them to a lovely Kraft Stamped Hardwood base with a Real Red Scalloped Square. The music paper from the "This Christmas" DSP seemed appropriate for my country themed card. What is a cowboy card without a lariat! My lariat was made using linen thread. A Happy Birthday sentiment from Big On Birthdays a few Real Red Sequins and this Cowboy was done!

My Birthday Bash Step Up

As promised, I am coming to you today with a great "Step it Up" idea! Last week I was running out of time for the OSAT Blog Hop and needed to come up with some thing cute and fast. So I busted out my Gift Card Envelope die and cut out this coordinating "treat holder" below. You can see the orignal post but clicking the photo below! Let me show you how I stepped it up first!

I untied the ribbon that I used to wrap around it and simply punched a hole into a 1/2" and 3/4" Circle Punches and looped the ribbon in! I added some Whisper White Bakers Twine in a cute little bow around the ribbon. I made a nice belly band using the coordinating DSP from Tasty Treats. A nice stitched circle stamped with Playful Backgrounds and the Cool Treats was layered onto a Dazzling Diamond Scallop Circle from the Layering Circles die set. Some cute little banners and a little bit of washi was just the right touch!

Adorable right? Thank you so much for stopping by to see how I stepped up my quick and easy project from Thursday!
